It looks like the multi-award winning musical, THE BOOK OF MORMON, may be coming to Manchester in 2019!
The show’s website is encouraging audiences to sign up for more information although specific dates and venues are still to be announced. If MORMON is indeed coming to Manchester, it will mark the first time in the UK that the musical has been performed outside of London.
Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone’s outrageous comedy follows two mormon missionaries placed in a remote Ugandan village as they try to convert the local villagers to Mormonism. The musical opened on Broadway in 2011 before crossing the Atlantic to London in 2013, where it is still running at the Prince of Wales Theatre. The show bagged four Olivier awards when it arrived including Best New Musical.
THE BOOK OF MORMON is co-directed by Trey Parker and Casey Nicholaw with design by Scott Pask, costumes by Ann Roth, lighting by Ryan Macdevitt and sound by Brian Ronan.
The musical is currently booking at the Prince of Wales Theatre until February 2019..
