Images of the UK tour of KINKY BOOTS, winner of both the Olivier and Tony Award for Best Musical, have been released.
Callum Francis currently stars as Lola in the production until December 15th, with Kayi Ushe taking over the role from December 17th. They are joined in the lead roles by Paula Lane as Lauren and Joel Harper-Jackson as Charlie.
Inspired by true events, KINKY BOOTS tells the story of a Northampton-town shoe factory. Charlie Price is struggling to live up to his father’s legacy and continuing the success of Price & Son. With the future of the factory hanging in the balance, help arrives in an unlikely fashion with the emergence of drag queen Lola. The musical is based on the 2005 movie of the same name starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Joel Edgerton.
The musical premiered on Broadway in Spring 2013, in an adaptation from Broadway legend Harvey Fierstein. 1980s pop-icon Cyndi Lauper provided the Tony winning music and lyrics with direction from New York veteran Jerry Mitchell.
KINKY BOOTS is currently playing at Newcastle Theatre Royal, with upcoming dates Edinburgh, Canterbury, Stoke-on-Trent, Llandudno, Oxford, Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Nottingham, Sheffield, Sunderland, Plymouth, Cardiff, Southampton, Blackpool, Bradford, Milton Keynes and finally Hull in November 2019.
