Initial casting has been announced for Arthur Miller’s THE AMERICAN CLOCK, which opens at the Waterloo venue from February 2019.
The cast includes Amber Aga, Paul Bentall, Greg Bernstein, Clare Burt, Flora Dawson, Abhin Galeya, Fred Haig, Jyuddah Jaymes, John Marquez, Francesca Mills, Taheen Modak, Christian Patterson, Golda Rosheuvel, Abdul Salis, Josie Walker and Ewan Wardrop. Further casting for the production is to be revealed.
Directed by Rachel Chavkin (whose pre-Broadway musical HADESTOWN opens at the National Theatre this week), THE AMERICAN CLOCK is a play about hope, idealism and America’s unwavering faith in capitalism. Miller’s 1980s play follows the Baum family, who navigate 1930s America in the wake of the Great Depression. Chavkin’s production will fuse 1920s jazz sounds with a contemporary score by Justin Ellington.
In this revival, Chavkin will mark the evolution of the American family by having three sets of actors in the roles of the Baum family in each performance.
Featuring design by Chloe Lamford, costumes by Rosie Elnile, choreography from Ann Yee, lighting from Natasha Chivers and sound from Darron L West, THE AMERICAN CLOCK runs at The Old Vic from 4th February to 30th March.
The production is part of a Arthur Miller double-bill at The Old Vic, being followed by a revival of ALL MY SONS starring Sally Field and Bill Pullman.
