Matt Henry and Killian Donnelly Return to Film KINKY BOOTS in the West End

It’s been announced that the award-winning KINKY BOOTS will be filmed later this month for a future worldwide screening.

In addition, it’s been announced that original West End leads Matt Henry and Killian Donnelly will return as Lola and Charlie respectively for the filming, which takes place between 26th and 28th November.

Henry took home the Olivier for Best Actor in a Musical for his role as Lola. Meanwhile, Donnelly himself also received a nomination in the same category. Donnelly is currently performing as Jean Valjean in the UK and Ireland tour of LES MISÉRABLES whilst Matt Henry is soon to star in ONE NIGHT IN MIAMI at the Nottingham Playhouse.

Inspired by true events, KINKY BOOTS tells the story of a Northampton-town shoe factory. Charlie Price is struggling to live up to his father’s legacy and continuing the success of Price & Son. With the future of the factory hanging in the balance, help arrives in an unlikely fashion with the emergence of drag queen Lola. The musical is based on the 2005 movie of the same name starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Joel Edgerton.

The musical premiered on Broadway in Spring 2013, in an adaptation from Broadway legend Harvey Fierstein. 1980s pop-icon Cyndi Lauper provided the Tony winning music and lyrics with direction from New York veteran Jerry Mitchell.

The West End production will close on 12th January 2019, following over 1400 performances at London’s Adelphi Theatre. Meanwhile, a major UK tour of KINKY BOOTS is currently booking until November 2019.

Details for the film screening are still to be announced.
