The West End production of WICKED, which is currently running at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre, has announced an extension of its open-ended run up to November 2019.
WICKED is currently the 5th longest running musical currently in the West End, and next month will surpass BUDDY – THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY to become the 13th longest running West End show in history. WICKED has been seen around the world by almost 60 million people in over 130 cities.
Based on Gregory Maguire’s Wicked: The Life and Times of Wicked With of the West, Stephen Schwartz’s musical reimagines the characters of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, telling the extraordinary story of a friendship between two witches, how one becomes good and the other becomes Wicked. The musical premiered on Broadway in 2003, where it continues to run at the Gershwin Theatre. The musical transferred to the West End in 2006 and is currently enjoying success on a tour around the UK.
The current West End cast stars: Alice Fearn as Elphaba, Sophie Evans as Glinda, David Witts as Fiyero, Melanie La Barrie as Madame Morrible, Andy Hockley as The Wizard, Chris Jarman as Doctor Dillamond, Rosa O’Reilly as Nessarose and Jack Lansbury as Boq. The cast is subject to change from 22nd July 2019.
