The UK and Ireland tour of MATILDA THE MUSICAL has announced that Elliot Harper will join the cast as Miss Trunchbull. Harper will join the tour from 15th January 2019 at Theatre Royal Plymouth.
Harper’s West End credits include: Father Joe in THE EXORCIST at the Phoenix Theatre, ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS at the National Theatre, LES MISÉRABLES at the Queens Theatre and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA at Her Majesty’s Theatre. He previously performed in MATILDA THE MUSICAL at the Cambridge Theatre in the West End. Harper takesover the role of Miss Trunchbull from Craige Els, who plays his last performance in Cardiff on 12th January 2019.
He joins the adult cast alongside: Carly Thoms, Sebastien Torkia, Rebecca Thornhill, Richard Astbury, Joe Atkinson, Nina Bell, Peter Bindloss, Oliver Bingham, Emily Bull, Samara Casteallo, Matthew Caputo, Matt Gillett, Michelle Chantelle Hopewell, Sam Lathwood, Steffan Lloyd-Evans, Charlie Martin, Tom Mather, Anu Ogunmefun, Adam Vaughan and Dawn Williams. The role of Matilda is shared by child actors, Sophia Ally, Scarlett Cecil, Annalise Bradbury, Poppy Jones, Emma Moore and Nicola Turner.
The tour is currently about to about at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff. The tour will then visit Theatre Royal Plymouth, Alhambra Theatre, Bradford, Edinburgh Playhouse, The Bristol Hippodrome, Mayflower Theatre, Southampton and Norwich Theatre Royal, the last booked stop in August 2019.
MATILDA THE MUSICAL opened at The RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon in 2010. The production was directed by Matthew Warchus with music by Tim Minchin and book by Dennis Kelly. The musical transferred to the Cambridge Theatre in London the following year picking up multiple Olivier Awards including Best Musical. MATILDA continues to book in the West End to 2020. A Broadway transfer played in New York until 2017. MATILDA launched its UK and Ireland tour at Leicester Curve in Summer 2018.
