The musical will then return to London’s Eventim Apollo from 11th December to 29th December for a third season. Additionally, it’s been announced Simon Lipkin will return to the role of Mr Poppy for the London run. Further casting for the tour is still to be announced.
NATIVITY! is currently out on a UK tour for the 2018 festive season opening this week at London’s Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith over Christmas.
The musical is a stage adaptation of Debbie Isitt’s 2009 film which starred Martin Freeman. NATIVITY! follows a Coventry based primary school where teachers Mr Maddens, and his assistant Mr Poppy, mount a musical version of the nativity with the promise of it being turned into a Hollywood movie. Film creator Debbie Isitt has written and directed the stage adaptation which features music and lyrics by Nicky Ager and Isitt, choreography by Andrew Wright, design by David Woodhead, lighting by Tim Mitchell, sound by Tom Marshall and musical supervision and orchestrations by George Dyer.
Isitt said: ‘I am so proud of NATIVITY! THE MUSICAL and everything it has achieved over the last two years. We have had over 150 fantastic child actors involved this year, an absolutely stunning adult company (including some terrific celebrities) and the return of the incredibly talented Simon Lipkin as Mr Poppy. The show has brought joy to so many families across the UK in 2018 and we can’t wait to do it all again next year’.
