Production photographs have been released of Danai Gurira’s THE CONVERT, currently in previews at the Young Vic.
Letitia Wright, who starred in Marvel’s Black Panther alongside writer Gurira, leads the cast alongside Paapa Essiedu, Ivanno Jeremiah, Jude Akuwudike, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Rudolphe Mdlongwa and Pamela Nomvete.
Ola Ince directs THE CONVERT, which tells the story of a young woman who escapes a forced marriage in 19th century Rhodesia (modern day Zimbabwe and Jekesai) and finds herself working for a devout Catholic priest.
The play features direction by Ola Ince with design by Naomi Dawson, lighting design by Bruno Poet, projections by Will Duke and movement by Carol Messam. THE CONVERT is a part of Kwame Kwei-Armah’s first season at the Young Vic Theatre.
THE CONVERT runs at London’s Young Vic to January 26th 2019. Opening night is scheduled for December 14th. Tickets are on sale.
