Casting Announced for JESUS HOPPED THE ‘A’ TRAIN at the Young Vic

The Young Vic has announced full casting for three of its upcoming shows including JESUS HOPPED THE ‘A’ TRAIN in the main space.

The cast of Stephen Adly Guirgis’ JESUS HOPPED THE ‘A’ TRAIN will feature Oberon K A Adjepong as Lucius Jenkins, Matthew Douglas as D’Amico, Dervla Kirwan as Mary Jane Hanrahan, Ukweli Roach as Angel Cruz and Joplin Sibtain as Valdez. The revival, which was nominated for an Olivier Award when it premiered in London in 2003, is set in a lockdown wing of a prison and follows a young man accused of murdering a cult leader. The new production will be directed by Kate Hewitt with design by Magda Lewis, costumes by Kinnetia Isidore, lighting by Guy Hoare, sound by Peter Price and movement by Imogen Knight. JESUS HOPPED THE ‘A’ TRAIN runs from 14th February to 30th March.

From 6th to 16th February, Lekan Lawal directs a new revival of April de Angelis’ WILD EAST in the Clare space. Set in an archaic office environment, the cast features Lucy Briers, Zach Wyatt and Kemi-Bo Jacobs. The play features design by Sarah Beaton, lighting by Amy Mae and sound by Harry Blake.

Finally, casting has been confirmed for Luke Barnes’ THE JUMPER FACTORY, running in the Maria space from 27th February to 9th March. Ayomide Adegun, Raphael Akuwudike, Jake Mills, Rushand Chambers, Pierre Moullier and Tej Obano all feature in the new piece that explores how young people’s lives are affected by the criminal justice system. The play is directed by Joshua Parr and conceived by Justin Audibert and the Young Vic Taking Part in collaboration with HMP Wandsworth. The piece features sound by Mike Winship, lighting by Jess Glaisher and costumes by Catherine Kodicek.
