Casting Announced for UK Tour of EQUUS

Casting has been announced for the upcoming revival of Peter Shaffer’s EQUUS, touring the UK from February.

The production will feature Robert Finch as Frank Strang / Horse, Keith Gilmore as Harry Dalton / Nurse / Horse, Ethan Kai as Alan Strang, Syreeta Kumar as Dora Strang / Horse, Norah Lopez Holden as Jill Mason / Horse, Ruth Lass as Hester Salomon / Horse, Ira Mandela Siobhan as Young Horseman / Nugget and Zubin Varla as Martin Dysart.

EQUUS tells the story of psychiatrist Martin Dysart, who attempts to treat Alan Strang, a young man with a pathological religious fascination with horses. The original production premiered at the National Theatre in 1973 before transferring to Broadway in a production that starred Anthony Hopkins. The play was most recently revived in the West End in 2007 in a revival that starred Daniel Radcliffe and Richard Griffiths. This production too transferred to Broadway in 2009.

Presented by English Touring Theatre and Theatre Royal Stratford East, Ned Bennett (AN OCTOROON, POMONA) directs the piece which features design by Georgia Lowe, lighting by Jessica Hung Han Yun, composition and sound by Giles Thomas and movement by Shelley Maxwell.

EQUUS previews at Theatre Royal Stratford East from 15th February before officially opening on 21st February. It will run in London until 23rd March before touring to Cambridge Arts Theatre, Theatre Royal Bath, Bristol Old Vic, The Lowry, Northern Stage in Newcastle and the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford.
