Caroline Sheen Temporarily Covers Louise Redknapp in West End 9 TO 5

It’s been announced that Caroline Sheen will step in to cover Louise Redknapp in the West End run of 9 TO 5.

It was revealed last week that Redknapp was forced to drop out of the show after cutting her chin and fracturing her wrist. Redknapp will return to the production once she has recovered (estimated by the show to be Late March – Early April.

Sheen will temporarily replace Redknapp in the show in the role of Violet Newstead. Sheen’s previous theatre credits include the original cast of THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK, Truly Scrumptious in CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG, and the title role of MARY POPPINS on the UK and US tours. Her most recent credits include the lead role in CRAZY FOR YOU at the Watermill Theatre and KISS ME, KATE at the Kilworth House Theatre.

She joins the previously announced Amber Davies, Natalie McQueen, Brian Conley and Bonnie Langford in the show, before Redknapp returns to see the production’s run to August 2019.

Directed by Jeff Calhoun, 9 TO 5 is based on the 1980 movie that starred Dolly Parton herself. The musical premiered in Los Angeles in 2008 before transferring to Broadway the following year. Although it received a record breaking 15 Drama Desk Award nominations that year, its Broadway run was short lived. 9 TO 5 made its way over the pond on a UK tour that took place in 2012. Jeff Calhoun’s touring production will be recreated at the Savoy in 2019.

9 TO 5 features music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and a book by Patricia Resnick. The Savoy production features direction by Jeff Calhoun, choreography by Lisa Stevens, design by Tom Rogers, lighting by Howard Hudson, musical supervision, arrangements and orchestrations by Mark Crossland, musical direction by Andrew Hilton and casting by Victoria Roe.

9 TO 5 previews at the Savoy Theatre from 28th January and runs for a limited season to 31st August. Tickets are on sale now.
