Full casting has been announced for the UK premiere of Florian Zeller’s THE SON, opening at the Kiln Theatre in February.
Amanda Abbington will lead the production in the role of Anne. Abbington is best known for her recurring roles in TV shows Mr Selfridge and Sherlock. Her recent stage credits include Annette in GOD OF CARNAGE and Beverly in ABIGAIL’S PARTY, both at Theatre Royal Bath.
Abbington is joined by John Light as Pierre, Laurie Kynaston as Nicolas, Amaka Okafor as Sofia, Oseloka Obi as Nurse and Martin Turner as The Doctor.
Zeller’s play, translated by Christopher Hampton, follows the break down of a family and the unravelling of the son. THE SON follows Zeller’s previous acclaimed plays THE FATHER (Olivier Award nominee) and THE MOTHER, completing the trilogy of plays. Zeller was most recently represented in London with THE HEIGHT OF THE STORM, which played at the West End’s Wyndham’s Theatre in Autumn 2018 starring Jonathan Pryce and Eileen Atkins.
Michael Longhurst (upcoming artistic director of the Donmar Warehouse) directs the play with design by Lizzie Clachlan, lighting by Lee Curran and composition and sound design by Isobel Waller-Bridge.
THE SON opens at London’s Kiln Theatre from 26th February with previews from 20th February. It will run at the venue until 6th April. Tickets are on sale now.
