Images have been released offering a first look at the new tour of Mike Leigh’s ABIGAIL’S PARTY, now out on a UK tour.
I’d Do Anything winner Jodie Prenger stars in the production as Beverly alongside Vicky Binns as Angela, Calum Callaghan as Tony, Daniel Casey as Lawrence and Rose Keegan as Susan.
Directed by Sarah Esdaile, this production of Mike Leigh’s 1970s comedy premiered at Theatre Royal Bath last year starring Amanda Abbington to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the piece. The play, which follows two warring couples in British suburbia, is perhaps best known for the 1977 BBC television adaptation which starred Alison Steadman.
ABIGAIL’S PARTY opened in Brighton this week with original creator Mike Leigh getting a chance to see the new production.
The new production features direction by Esdaile (with associate direction by Mark Maughan), design by Janet Bird, lighting by Paul Pyant (with associate lighting design by Ed Locke), sound by Mic Pool and movement by Lucy Cullingford.
ABIGAIL’S PARTY next visits Birmingham, before heading on to York, Glasgow, Southampton, Stoke-on-Trent, Woking, Northampton, Blackpool, Aylesbury, Liverpool, Dartford, Manchester and Edinburgh.
