Casting Complete for World Premiere of ANNA at the National Theatre

Full casting has been confirmed for the world premiere production of Ella Hickson, Ben and Max Ringham’s ANNA at the National Theatre.

Joining the previously announced Phoebe Fox as Anna will be Paul Bazely as Hans. They will be joined by Michael Gould, Diana Quick, Lara Rossi, Nathalie Armin, Max Bennett, Jamie Bradley, Georgia Landers and Dwane Walcott.

ANNA takes place in East Berlin in 1968. The production gives audiences individual headsets to experience the tale of married couple Anna and Hans. Story is provided by Ella Hickson whilst The Ringham Brothers have created compositions and sound design for the piece.

Ella Hickson said: ‘The technology used within ANNA gives every audience member the opportunity to be psychologically inside a moment in history that is hard for us to imagine today – a hugely optimistic time when the project of communism had yet to fail. The play, experienced through headphones, and brought to life by our extraordinary cast, will offer a thrilling insight to ideological otherness.’

ANNA features set and costume design by Vicki Mortimer, lighting by Jon Clark and movement direction by Anna Morrissey.

ANNA runs in the National Theatre’s Dorfman Theatre from 11th May to June 15th. Tickets are on sale now.
