NT Live Announce Upcoming Broadcasts of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, PRESENT LAUGHTER and HANSARD

NT Live has announced plans for three new productions to screen to cinemas in 2019.

The Bridge Theatre’s production of Shakespeare’s A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, opening in June, will be captured live during its run this summer and screen in UK cinemas on 17th October. The new revival, directed by Nicholas Hytner and designed by Bunny Christie, stars Game of Thrones’ Gwendoline Christie alongside Oliver Chris, David Moorst and Hammed Animashaun among others. The screening marks NT Live’s fourth production from the Bridge following YOUNG MARX, JULIUS CAESAR and ALLELUJAH!

On 7th November, the NT Live will broadcast the National Theatre’s new play HANSARD live from the Lyttelton Theatre. Directed by Simon Godwin, Simon Woods’ new piece follows married couple Robin and Diana, whose marriage begins to fall apart as gentle sparring turns into a blood sport. HANSARD stars Alex Jennings and Lindsey Duncan.

The third new screening announced by NT Live is the Old Vic’s upcoming revival of Noël Coward’s PRESENT LAUGHTER, starring Sherlock and Fleabag’s Andrew Scott as matinee idol Garry Essendine. Captured live at the Waterloo venue this Summer, the production will be broadcast to cinemas nationwide on 28th November. PRESENT LAUGHTER is directed by Old Vic AD Matthew Warchus, and also features Indira Varma and Sophie Thompson.

The three new announcements come following already confirmed broadcasts of SMALL ISLAND on 27th June, THE LEHMAN TRILOGY on 25th July, and an encore screening of ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS on 26th September.
