It’s been announced that the UK premiere production of Michael John LaChiusa’s musical QUEEN OF THE MIST will transfer to London’s Charing Cross Theatre.
After running at Lewisham’s Brockley Jack Theatre in April 2019, the production will transfer to the central London venue for a limited run from 15th August to 5th October. LaChiusa’s musical is based on the phenomenal true life story of Anna Edson Taylor, who on her 63rd birthday in 1901, set out to be the first person to survive a trip over Niagra Falls in a barrel of her own design. Featuring music, lyrics and book by Michael John LaChiusa (THE WILD PARTY, HELLO AGAIN), the musical first premiered Off-Broadway in 2011, winning the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical and receiving nominations for six Drama Desk Awards, including Outstanding Musical.
The original Brockley Jack cast will all transfer with the production with Trudi Camilleri (RAGTIME and DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY at Charing Cross Theatre) playing Anna Edson Taylor. Camilleri is joined by Will Arundell, Emily Juler, Emma Ralston, Tom Blackmore, Conor McFarlane and Andrew Carter.
The production has also confirmed that a London cast recording will be released ahead of the transfer to Charing Cross.
QUEEN OF THE MIST is directed by Dominic O’Hanlon and features set and costume design by Tara Usher, lighting design by Bethany Gupwell, sound design by Adrian Jeakins, musical supervision by Jordan Li-Smith and musical direction by Connor Fogel.
QUEEN OF THE MIST runs at London’s Charing Cross Theatre from 15th August to 5th October. Tickets are on sale now.
