Full Casting Confirmed for UK Tour of 9 TO 5, Chelsea Halfpenny Joins London Cast

Full casting has been confirmed for the upcoming touring production of 9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL, opening at Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre this September.

Joining the previously announced Amber Davies as Judy and Louise Redknapp as Violet will be; Sean Needham as Franklin Hart Jnr, Lucinda Lawrence as Roz Kieth and Georgina Castle as Doralee Rhodes. Current West End stars Caroline Sheen (Violet) and Brian Conley (Franklin Hart Jnr) will make appearances in Cardiff and Milton Keynes respectively. Redknapp will appear as Violet on Manchester, Milton Keynes, Liverpool, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dublin dates. Laura Tyrer will play the role of Violet on the remaining tour dates.

The touring cast is completed by: Joe Atkinson, Georgia Bradshaw, Sierra Brewerton, Ashford Campbell, Stephanie Chandos, Edward Chitticks, Conor Crown, Ross Lee Fowkes, Ryan Goscinski, Jemima Loddy, Christopher Jordan Marshall, Jacob Maynard, Matt Overfield, Kirsty Anne Shaw, Ricardo Spriggs, Leah St. Luce, and Grace Walker.

Meanwhile in the West End production, Chelsea Halfpenny takes over the role of Judy from the departing Amber Davies. Halfpenny, best known to audiences for the roles in Byker Grove and Emmerdale, makes her West End debut in the role, entering performances full-time from 2nd September.

Bonnie Langford, Brian Conley, Caroline Sheen and Natalie McQueen all extend their runs as Roz Keith, Franklin Hart Jnr, Violet Newstead and Doralee Rhodes in the London production. All except Conley (who departs the show on 30th November) will appear in the Savoy Theatre production until 11th January 2020.

The full London cast from 2nd September is completed by: Victoria Anderson, Alexander Bartles, Simon Campbell, Alexander Day, Rhiane Drummond, Demmileigh Foster, Molly-May Gardiner, Llandyll Gove, Ben Irish, Jenny Legg, Natasha Mould, Jon Reynolds, James Royden-Lyley, Giles Surridge, Antoine Thomas-Sturge, Richard Taylor-Woods, Sasha Wareham and Emily Woodford.

Directed by Jeff Calhoun, 9 TO 5 is based on the 1980 movie that starred Dolly Parton herself. The musical premiered in Los Angeles in 2008 before transferring to Broadway the following year. Although it received a record-breaking 15 Drama Desk Award nominations that year, its Broadway run was short-lived. 9 TO 5 made its British premiere with a UK tour that took place in 2012.

9 TO 5 features music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and a book by Patricia Resnick. The touring production features direction by Jeff Calhoun, choreography by Lisa Stevens, design by Tom Rogers, lighting by Howard Hudson, musical supervision, arrangements and orchestrations by Mark Crossland, musical direction by Andrew Hilton and casting by Anne Vosser.

The UK tour 9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL opens in Birmingham on September 6th before touring to Manchester, Milton Keynes, Liverpool, Glasgow, Woking, Aberdeen, Cardiff, Sunderland, Edinburgh and Dublin, where the tour ends on 23rd November. The West End production runs concurrently at the Savoy Theatre until April 4th 2020.
