The National Theatre has released photos offering a glimpse into the rehearsal room of their upcoming play HANSARD, premiering at the venue this month.









Directed by Simon Godwin (ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA), Simon Woods’ witty new piece follows married couple Robin (Alex Jennings), a Tory politician and Diana (Lindsay Duncan), his wife of thirty years. Their seemingly blissful marriage begins to fall apart as gentle sparring turns into blood-sport.
The two-hander stars Alex Jennings and Lindsay Duncan. Jennings is a three-time Oliver Award-winner, known for his stage roles in MY FAIR LADY, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY and HYMN / COCKTAIL STICKS. Onscreen, Jennings is known for leading roles in The Lady in the Van and The Crown. Duncan is a two-time Olivier Award-winner. Her stage credits include PRIVATE LIVES, THAT FACE and LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES. Duncan is known for her screen roles in About Time, Sherlock and Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance).
HANSARD features set and costume design by Hildegard Bechtler, lighting by Jackie Shemesh, movement by Shelley Maxwell, music by Michael Bruce and sound design by Christopher Shutt.
HANSARD runs in the Lyttelton Theatre at the National Theatre from 22nd August to November 25th, with opening night scheduled for 3rd September. NT Live will broadcast HANSARD to cinemas on 7th November. Tickets are on sale now.
