Images have been released offering a first look at Joe Sugg as Ogie in WAITRESS, as he gets set to make his debut tonight at the Adelphi Theatre.

Sugg may be best known to wider audiences for his appearance on the BBC reality competition Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, where he finished runner-up alongside partner Dianne Buswell. Sugg, who first made his name through YouTube amassing more than 8 million subscribers, takes over the role of Ogie from Inbetweeners star Blake Harrison and joins Lucie Jones, David Hunter, Marisha Wallace and Laura Baldwin in the principal cast.
The Broadway hit, written by singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles and Jessie Nelson, had it’s West End premiere at the Adelphi Theatre in February. WAITRESS, which will conclude its three year Broadway run in January 2020, is based on the 2007 film of the same name that starred Keri Russell. It follows Jenna, a woman in a small American town with a talent for baking pies with plans to compete in a contest. These plans are hindered when she unexpectedly discovers she’s pregnant.
WAITRESS opened on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in March 2016 following a tryout in Boston. Directed by Diane Paulus and starring Jessie Mueller, the piece went on to be nominated for four Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Original Score. The same production now plays at the Adelphi.
WAITRESS is directed by Diane Paulus with choreography by Lorin Latarro, lighting by Ken Billington and designs by Scott Pask.
WAITRESS is currently booking at London’s Adelphi Theatre to 4th January 2020. Tickets are on sale now.
