Images have been released offering a look inside the rehearsal room of GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY, returning to London for a limited West End season from December.





















The production, written and directed by Conor McPherson, returns for a limited 8 week season at London’s Gielgud Theatre. Inspired by and featuring the music of Bob Dylan, GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY is set in a boarding house in Duluth, Minnesota in the midst of the Great Depression, and studies the characters living at and passing through the guesthouse.
The 2019 cast of GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY includes: Daniel Bailey as Ensemble, Colin Bates as Gene Laine, Katie Brayben as Elizabeth Laine, Anna-Jane Casey as Mrs Burke, Nicholle Cherrie as Ensemble, David Ganly as Mr Burke, Simon Gordon as Ensemble, Steffan Harri as Elias Burke, David Haydn as Ensemble, Rachel John as Mrs Neilsen, Sidney Kean as Mr Perry, Finbar Lynch as Reverend Marlow, Donald Sage Mackay as Nick Laine, Gloria Obianyo as Marianne, Ferdy Roberts as (Dr Walker, Wendy Somerville as Ensemble, Gemma Sutton as Katherine Draper, Shaq Taylor as Joe Scott and Alan Vicary as Ensemble. Further casting is to be announced.
GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY premiered at The Old Vic in 2017 before transferring to the West End’s Noël Coward Theatre for a limited run in 2018. The production was nominated for five Olivier Awards in 2018 including Best New Musical, ultimately winning two (Best Actress in a Musical for Shirley Henderson, and Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for Sheila Atim). The musical made its American premiere at New York’s Public Theatre in 2018, where it played to a sell-out, critically acclaimed run. The production returns to London until 1st February 2020 and begins previews at Broadway’s Belasco Theatre from 7th February 2020. The production’s Canadian premiere in Toronto is also scheduled to begin this month.
GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY features scenic and costume design by Rae Smith, lighting design by Mark Henderson, sound design by Simon Baker, orchestrations, arrangement and music supervision by Simon Hale, with additional arrangements by Hale and McPherson and movement direction by Lucy Hind.
GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY runs at London’s Gielgud Theatre from 10th December 2019 to 1st February 2020. Tickets are on sale now.
