It’s been announced that Susan Wokoma will join the cast of Mike Lew’s TEENAGE DICK, making its UK premiere at the Donmar Warehouse this December.
Wokoma, making her Donmar debut, takes on the role of Elizabeth York alongside the previously announced Daniel Monks in the title role. Wokoma recently received rave reviews for her performance as Bottom in Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s Summer revival of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM. Onscreen, Wokoma is best known to audiences for her roles in the E4 TV shows Crazyhead and Chewing Gum. In 2017, Wokoma was named a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit and featured on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list.
Directed by new Donmar Artist Director Michael Longhurst, TEENAGE DICK reimagines Shakespeare’s RICHARD III in a high school, where a teenager with hemiplegia plots a rise to power after years of bullying and torment. Donmar Warehouse presents the UK premiere of Mike Lew’s piece, which debuted Off-Broadway in 2018. The play runs at Donmar Warehouse between 6th December 2019 and 1st February 2020.
TEENAGE DICK features design by Chloe Lamford, lighting design by Sinéad McKenna and casting by Anna Cooper. Further casting is to be announced.
