Production photos have been released offering a first look at Lucy Kirkwood’s new play THE WELKIN, now playing in the National Theatre’s Lyttelton Theatre.

Set in rural Suffolk in 1759, 12 matrons are summoned to decide on the fate of a woman being trialled for murder. The production stars Maxine Peake, Ria Zmitrowicz, Natasha Cottriall, Daneka Etchells, Jenny Galloway, Haydn Gwynne, Zainab Hasan, Aysha Kala, Wendy Kweh, Philip McGinley, Cecilia Noble, Laurence Ubong Williams, Dawn Sievewright, June Watson, Shaofan Wilson, Hara Yannas and Brigid Zengeni.
THE WELKIN is directed by James Macdonald (THE NIGHT OF THE IGUANA, JOHN) and features set and costume design is by Bunny Christie, with lighting design by Lee Curran, sound design by Carolyn Downing, movement by Imogen Knight and fight direction by Rachel Bown-Williams and Ruth Cooper-Brown of Rc-Annie Ltd.
THE WELKIN will be streamed live to cinemas by NT Live on 21st May 2020.
