Full casting has been announced for the upcoming revival of Singin’ in the Rain, playing at London’s Sadler’s Wells from 30th July.
Joining the previously announced Adam Cooper as Don Lockwood (reprising the role from the 2012 West End production) will be: Kevin Clifton (Rock of Ages) as Cosmo Brown, Faye Tozer (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie) as Lina Lamont, Charlotte Gooch (Strictly Ballroom) as Kathy Salden, and Cavin Cornwall (Jesus Christ Superstar) as RF Simpson.
They are joined by Sandra Dickinson as Dora Bailey, Michael Matus as Roscoe Dexter, and Imogen Brook as Zelda Zanders.
The full cast features Briana Craig, Alistair Crosswell, Lavinia Fitzpatrick, Alex Given, Ryan Gover, Ashleigh Graham, Harriet Samuel-Gray, Molly Rees Howe, Thomas Inge, Robin Kent, Sam Lips, Joshua Lovell, George Lyons, Heather Scott Martin, Amonik Melaco, Ashleigh Morris, Peter Nash, Megan Spiers, and Ellie May Wilson.
Based on the iconic 1952 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer musical comedy directed by and starring Gene Kelly, Singin’ in the Rain depicts the story of silent movie star Don Lockwood during the Golden Age of Hollywood, as the industry moves into the ‘talkies.’ Featuring the classic MGM score by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed, the musical includes famous songs like ‘Make ’em Laugh’, ‘Good Morning’ and and the iconic ‘Singin’ in the Rain.’
The Sadler’s Wells production is directed by Jonathan Church, and is based on the 2011 Chichester Festival Theatre production which transferred to the West End the following year. Singin’ in the Rain features choreography by Andrew Wright, design by Simon Higlett, lighting by Tim Mitchell and casting by Stuart Burt. Further creative team members are still to be announced.
Following its London run this summer, the show will tour the UK in 2022. Casting for the tour is still to be revealed.
