Photos have been releasing offering a look inside the rehearsal room for Under Milk Wood, reopening the National Theatre next month.
Led by Michael Sheen, Siân Phillips and Karl Johnson, the upcoming revival of Dylan Thomas’ poetic masterpiece reopens the Olivier auditorium for socially-distanced audiences from 16th June.








Directed by Lyndsey Turner, the full cast features: Susan Brown, Ifan Huw Dafydd, Alan David, Michael Elwyn, Kezrena James, Karl Johnson, Gaynor Morgan Rees, Anthony O’Donnell, Siân Phillips and Cleo Sylvestre.
The revival features additional written material by Siân Owen, and features set and costume design by Merle Hensel, lighting design by Tim Lutkin, movement by Imogen Knight, songs composed by Edward-Rhys Harry, and sound design and additional compositions by Donato Wharton.
Thomas’ ‘play for voices’ interrogates the thoughts and dreams of a small rural town in Wales. The piece premiered as a radio drama for the BBC in 1954. A film adaptation was released in 1972, whilst another screen adaptation of the play for the BBC commemorated the play’s 60th anniversary in 2014.
Under Milk Wood runs at the National Theatre from 16th June to 24th July. Tickets for the production are currently sold out, but keep an eye on the website for returns and rush tickets closer to performances.
