It’s been announced that a new production of the Broadway hit The Cher Show, is to tour the UK and Ireland in 2022.

Opening at the Leicester Curve on 15th April 2022, the show tours through the next year. The show, which makes its European premiere following its original Broadway outing in 2018, arrives with a brand new creative team, headed by director Arlene Phillips, choreographer Oti Mabuse, and costume designer Gabriella Slade.

Featuring a book by Rick Elice (Jersey Boys), The Cher Show tells the story of the life and career of the legendary musician Cher, with three actresses portraying the icon at different stages of her life. Casting for the production is still to be announced.

The show features a multitude of Cher hits including: ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’, ‘I Got You Babe’ and ‘Believe’.

Following its premiere in Leicester, the show will then tour to Sunderland, Hull, Sheffield, Manchester, Belfast, Blackpool, Nottingham, Canterbury, Plymouth, Dublin, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Southend, Cardiff, Stoke, Woking, Dartford, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Wolverhampton, Bradford, Brighton, York, Ipswich, Southampton, Northampton, Liverpool, Bristol, Wimbledon, Darlington, Torquay, Oxford, Llandudno, Norwich and Carlisle. Further dates are to be announced

Arlene Phillips, director of the new production said: “I have been a fan of Cher since I first heard ‘I Got You Babe’ in the mid-sixties and cannot wait to direct her musical. I love stories about strong inspirational legends like Cher and I am proud to be joined in the creative team by two women who have already made a huge impact in their careers: Oti Mabuse as choreographer of the many different genres in the show and Gabriella Slade for the iconic costume designs. This exciting show will be a non-stop journey of Cher’s rollercoaster life, bringing to the audience Cher’s iconic songs, glorious dance numbers, unique costumes and her epic drama. All they need to do is come along and ‘Believe’.”

The Cher Show will also feature lighting design by Ben Cracknell and sound design by Dan Samson. 

The Cher Show premieres at Leicester Curve on 15th April 2022. Tickets for the production are on sale now.
